No. They will never learn!

By Arthur Webster of Ask Old Coot

When it comes to fighting for the proliferation and glorification of terror, the USA has no equals.

The whole of the American military machine seems to be engaged in nothing but a massive campaign to ensure that a major war starts somewhere.

Maybe the military leaders are finally getting bored with having huge stock-piles of WMDs and no-one to throw them at.

Offensive and ill-considered remarks about Pakistan (some repeated by the USA mouth-piece, David Cameron) are really not designed to create an air of peace - more to probe a running, open sore to see how much worse it can become.

Ridiculous claims at the possibility of USA engaging Iran in a non-nuclear confrontation in order to stop a "suspected" production of weapons grade nuclear material simply defy all logic. Iraq was a push over because Sadam Husein was naive enough to believe that his pay-masters would not turn on him and moved his front line troops into the rear, leaving old men and boys as the country's major defence.

Iran will not be a push over. Iran owes nothing to the USA and has its own autonomous government which has given no reason for anybody to believe that it will not defend its sovereignty with less than a maximum effort.

Afghanistan is seeing more and more troops being killed for the sake of an oil pipeline that seems to be less and less important as each new death is announced. Certainly the Wikileaks documents give a rather different view of events than any official reports.

Now the USA is interfering massively in the Far East. Apart from managing to reverse earlier findings on what destroyed a S. Koream warship, the USA has been crass enough to take part in major fleet exercises that (coincidentally?) brought Beijing within range of American F-18, carrier based aircraft. I suppose that the out-cry about human rights in China and yet another 'demand' from the Clinton express for a settlement of the South China Sea 'problem' because of USA desires had nothing to do with it.

Where ever you look at areas with major problems, there is one thing that seems to be almost guaranteed - the USA will be making demands in its own interests. There is always an implied threat with any USA demand. Implied threats are the seed corn of terrorism.

Contributor's Note

I suppose this will be graded low because it does not salute the stars and stripes. Ira Hayes saluted the Stars and Stripes and was treated like dirt in the country he fought for. Vietnam soldiers were derided as baby killers and some had faesces thrown at them as they returned to the 'world'. Don't Americans use mirrors?

I neither want friends who cannot face the truth as seen from another angle nor to influence people.

It is this constant desire to conform with the radical views of popular authors that has created the sad and fractured society in which we live.

It is the fear of being thought 'different' that keeps too many people quiet.

What ever happened to self confidence and objectivity? As far as I can see, they have been over-whelmed by a lot of over-sold theories and jingoism.

I knew that I was staying away too long, Arthur. You certainly bring thought provoking intels to the web. Being a yes man has never been my forte and I applaud your courage to speak your mind. Therein lies the truth that some of us live in freedom, that others have paid for with their lives. It may not always be just, but where would we be without the knocking down of those who would take our freedoms away?
Keep up the good work.
It's good to be back.
Best to you.
Frederick

How nice to see you back again, Frederick.

I see the freedom to retain some dignity at airports is now under direct threat from scanners that can not only see you virtually naked but also record the image and transmit it to a central store.

It is significant that the lies about these machines ARE STILL BEING TOLD even though the truth of the storage matter has been massively exposed.

The pictures taken by these scanners can be refined to very high definition - high enough to show skid marks in underpants! (Too much information?) Don't stay too long on the scanner base - who knows what they can see, if given enough time!
